Today I added one more small touch to our Aegina summer house. Nothing dramaticājust a detailābut it made me pause for a moment and feel deeply satisfied. Every little improvement feels like another way of saying welcome, another way of making our guests feel at home the moment they walk through the door.
And yet⦠almost immediately, my mind whispers: Whatās next?
I keep telling myself Iāll take it step by step. Slowly. Mindfully. But thereās this constant feeling of wanting to move the needle just a little more. One more project. One more idea. One more improvement that brings the house closer to how I imagine it in my dreams.
With that feeling comes a strange mix of excitement and stress. A kind of gentle pressure that says, fight a bit more, do one more thing, donāt stop now. I promise myself, Okay, this is the last thingāthen Iāll pause. But as soon as that step is completed, my thoughts are already racing ahead to the next one.
I wonderāam I the only one who feels this way?
To all of you who are building, renovating, or slowly shaping a house you love: do you feel it too? That endless loop of just one more, followed by now I can rest⦠until the next idea shows up?
Maybe this is just part of the journey. Loving a place enough to keep caring for it. Wanting it to grow, evolve, and feel even better than it did yesterday. Maybe the trick isnāt to stop dreamingābut to remember to enjoy each step as it comes.
For now, Iāll sit with this small win. Enjoy the moment. And yesāprobably start thinking about whatās next. š
āand I hope Iām not alone.
