A slow, beautiful journey toward a sustainable island retreat

They say it takes years to grow a garden, and maybe even longer to grow a dream. I truly hope that’s not the case — but here we are, slowly and steadily creating the green, sustainable paradise we imagine for our summer house in Aegina.

When I close my eyes, I see a tree‑based, eco‑friendly island home where everything is alive and connected. A place where we harvest fruit from our own trees, wander through a small but vibrant botanical garden, and enjoy fresh vegetables and herbs grown under the Greek sun. My kids have their own vision too — let’s just say it involves a lot of animals: chickens, pigs, maybe even more. Everyone’s dream for this house is different, and that’s the beauty of it.

But then there’s reality — and reality is slower, messier, and far more patient than we are.

Still, we’re moving forward. Carefully. Consistently. Joyfully.

We’re planting small green pockets around the property, one by one. Little corners of life that will someday grow into the full, lush vision we all carry in our minds. It’s not there yet — almost, but not fully in the air. And that’s okay. Because this journey is part of the story we’re creating.

Every new tree, every little plant, every tiny step brings us closer to our island haven — a place that will one day be overflowing with nature, sustainability, family memories, and yes… probably a few very opinionated chickens.

Our Aegina summer house isn’t just a project.

It’s a dream growing roots.
